Vlogging Questions: 1. Definition of "vlogging" - A blog in which posts are in video form
2. Who are three current popular vloggers and what do they post about?
a) Casey Neistat - Casey appears to vlog about his every day life, as the variety of different topics in his videos is easily noticed. At one point Casey stopped daily vlogs for about four months due to a project he was working on, and once that project was finished he returned with the vlogs. b) RomanAtwoodVlogs - Roman also has a surplus of videos all with different content that used to be a view of his everyday life with his family, until March 12th, 2018, when he announced that daily vlogs would stop. c) Pewdiepie - Felix Arvid Ulf Kjelleberg like the two other vloggers, posts daily update videos on his life. He is the most subscribed YouTube channel with over 62 million subscribers, and posts amusing content of video games and his life.
3. What are the qualities of a vlog? List at least 10 qualities - Humour - Creativity - Being Positive - Interactivity - Fluent posting schedule - Relatable - Collaboration - Give out to interest the viewers - Effective use of social medias - Interesting content
5. Reflect on the permanency of online life. Vlogs will be around for potentially forever, even after the vlogger has removed them from the online presence. How will vlogs effect the future careers or future choices of these vloggers? - The fact that these vlogs could potentially be seen forever should make the creator cautious as to what content they post. Vloggers are a big part of the YouTube community, and if they have a large following like the three names mentioned above do, then many people will have access to their videos and see what they post, what they like to do, their everyday life is pretty much on display if they vlog constantly. In really bad cases, that can lead to people stalking the vloggers and trying to harm them. Anything could happen with these videos being posted for the world to see.
6. If you were to start vlogging, what topics would you vlog about? - If I started vlogging I would most likely choose skateboarding as my main topic. I'd travel to different skate parks, film videos about learning new tricks, skateboard set-up videos, anything related to skateboarding really.
7. Think about the topic identified in the Question 6, will you have the same opinion in the future? - I can imagine that I would have the same opinion in the future, if I have the same strong feeling about skateboarding as I do now.
8. What are the long term: A) Repercussions - With the Logan Paul vlog inside the "Suicide Forest" where he and friends made jokes and filmed an actual suicide victim within the forest. He received tremendous amounts of hate for posting such a terrible video B) Consequences - Logan Paul took it upon himself to stop posting on YouTube for a while. He made attempts at apologies to the online community for his senselessly posted video, but no one was feeling as if he truly deserved acceptance and that he didn't really mean all he said in his apology. C) Benefits to these vloggers - In Logan's case, there are no benefits. For the people who's vlog content is entertaining and appropriate to showcase, they grow as a channel and gain more views. If they become successful enough, they could have their videos monetized and can start generating income through advertisements on the videos.
9. If you were a parent would you let your 10 year old vlog? Why or why not? - As a hypothetical parent, if my kid isn't causing anyone harm with his or her videos then I'm not going to prevent them from vlogging. It could be a kids dream to be a worldly known vlogger, and a parent could easily control what they do in terms of online videos. The most I would do is monitor the comments to see what people say, and then just give some small tips to my child on making improved videos.
